Rebecca Santone is a junior at Bridgewater State University studying dance, secondary education, and musical theatre as of 2017. She began studying dance when she was three years old and has trained in classical ballet, pointe, modern, lyrical, jazz, tap, musical theatre, ballroom, and hip-hop since then. Her early performance history includes dancing in the corps de ballet in shows such as The Nutcracker, Coppelia, and The Sleeping Beauty. Most recent roles include Clara in excerpts from The Nutcracker and Lilac Fairy in excerpts from The Sleeping Beauty (with Bridgewater State University), and Marzipan Shepherdess in The Nutcracker (with Northeast Dance Center). She was also a dancer for the PMA Theatre Guild from 2014-2015.
Rebecca's career in dance education began when she was 16 when she was a teaching assistant at a local studio in young dancers' tap and jazz classes for one year. She also has experience in choreography. She choreographed musicals for the PMA Theatre Guild including Hairspray, Damn Yankees, Just So, and The Addams Family and James and the Giant Peach Jr. for Amesbury Children's Theatre. In addition to musical theatre productions, Rebecca premiered her first ballet piece ,"Barefoot", in the BSU Dance Company's WinterDance 2016.
Rebecca's career goals are to teach proper dance technique to children and young adults and to give them the opportunity to perform in ballet and theatre productions. She is an active member of the BSU Dance Company, the National Dance Education Organization, BSU's NDEO Student Organization, and the National Honor Society for Dance Arts. She is also the owner of and author for the website Ballet with Becca.
